Rome is despite its many tourists ideal for running. The terrain is flat and the main sights are within a short distance, so that you can cover most of them on a 6-10 km running tour. You will be running through windy streets while breathing in thousands of years of history. Rome is truly a unique running city.
Rome has a Mediterranean climate which means pleasant temperatures all year round although summers can be fairly hot with day time temperatures around 30 degrees. This is also why we recommend running in Rome in the early hours of the day as temperatures are lower and the streets uncrowded.
Along with the rest of Italy, Rome is a paradise when it comes to food. It boasts several Michelin restaurants (see below) but also plenty of local markets, where visitors can taste local cuisine and take in the abundance of fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.
